Moldova Entry and Travel Requirements
Moldova's entry requirements set out the rules for travelers wishing to visit Moldova. These requirements include necessary documents that they must prepare before departure. The most important document that everyone must have is a passport that is valid for at least 3 months from the intended date of arrival in the country. You should also make sure it has at least one blank page.
In addition to a valid passport, citizens of many countries may also need to apply for a visa. Moldova's visa policy determines which country's citizens should apply for a Moldova visa. The visa policy also specifies the visa types applicable to certain travelers based on nationality, purpose of travel and expected length of stay in Moldova.
Moldova has introduced an electronic visa system that allows some visitors to apply for short-term visas entirely online. However, countries that do not qualify for an online visa must still go to the nearest Moldovan embassy and apply for a visa in the traditional way. Additionally, all foreigners planning to settle in Moldova, work there or stay longer in the country must apply for a visa directly from the Moldovan diplomatic mission. In addition, citizens of about 100 different countries are allowed to visit Moldova without a visa for short-term stays for tourism, entertainment and business purposes. However, they still need to apply for a visa if they plan to stay long-term in Moldova.
Amid the global Covid-19 pandemic, Moldova authorities implemented additional restrictions that have since been lifted. As of March 2022, it is no longer necessary to provide a vaccination certificate, negative test report or proof of recovery for entry into Moldova.
Important note:
We advise all travelers to reconsider visiting Moldova due to the ongoing military conflict in neighboring Ukraine. The airspace over Moldova is restricted and flights to and from the country are very limited. You should especially avoid entering the Transnistria area. Always follow the advice of local authorities throughout your stay in Moldova.
