Difference Between a Vietnam eVisa and a Visa Approval Letter
You need to apply for both Vietnam e-Visa for Vietnam and visa approval letter online. However, these two things are not the same.
- Vietnam e-visa is a real visa. You receive it online, print it out, present it to the immigration authority in Vietnam and then you will be allowed to enter the country. You don't need to queue at the visa counter and get your visa stamped in your passport: eVisa is all you need.
- Visa approval letter is a document you need to get from the Vietnam immigration authority before coming to Vietnam and applying for a visa on arrival (VOA). You cannot enter the country with just a visa approval letter. You must line up at the visa counter at the Vietnam airport and get a VOA stamp in your passport before you can check in and enter the country.
