UK e-Visa: Basic information

The UK e-visa is an e-visa waiver scheme available online for citizens of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates and allows these visa holders to enter entering the United Kingdom for touristy, commercial, transit or medical reasons.
 
The UK's e-visa was introduced in 2014 to speed up visa processing for four eligible countries.
Travelers can now get their UK eVisa completely online after completing a quick 3-step application process.
 
The e-visa exemption is implemented in the form of a single entry permit allowing a stay in the UK for up to 6 months.
Additionally, the UK eVisa remains valid for up to six months.

The UK government is considering introducing an electronic travel permit, which will be a mandatory document for citizens of visa-exempt countries, including EU citizens.
 
The UK ETA will pre-screen incoming travelers to minimize any possible threats to the country and will be available online.
The UK’s electronic visa waiver program or UK’s eVisa has only one type. The e-visa exemption is a UK e-visa for citizens of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The UK e-Visa is a one-time travel permit allowing a visit of up to 6 months. The registration process can be completed entirely online.
 
Visitors can visit the UK using an e-visa waiver for the following purposes:
  • tourism (visiting one’s friends and family, going on vacation, exploring tourist destinations)
  • transit (when traveling through the UK to another country)
  • business (any business-related activities, such as meetings, conferences, training, negotiating a contract)
  • medical treatment

Each traveler must have a completed passenger locator form upon arrival. This is mandatory documentation for anyone crossing the UK border during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prepare the necessary documents and ensure that all have the appropriate validity period. Once prepared, start the registration process:
 
  • Begin by clicking on the “Login” button, which can be found in the menu on the right side of the screen.
  • If you haven’t registered yet, please register yourself first.
  • After registering, proceed to log in to the panel.
  • Once you are logged in, navigate to the menu on the left side of the panel.
  • Select the “Visa Application Form” option from the menu.
  • Fill out this form with the required information.
  • Finally, submit the completed form.
Make sure you provide accurate data and check for errors in your form.

However, to avoid delays or approval issues, make sure you enter the data correctly from the start.
The e-visa exemption is valid for 6 months (180 days) after arrival in the UK. Please note that the UK eVisa is a single entry permit, allowing a stay of up to six months.
 
Additionally, all applicants must have a passport that is valid and will not expire within the next 6 months after the intended date of entry into the UK.

Please note!
Minor travelers (under 18 years of age) do not need to fill out the passenger locator form themselves.
However, they must be brought in as an accompanying adult.

Required documents for e-Visa

When applying for an electronic visa waiver (eVisa), you will need:
  • a valid passport
  • details concerning your upcoming trip to the UK (including arrival and departure dates)
  • the addresses you'll be staying at in UK

Make sure your passport will be valid throughout the trip.

Why Is the UK Electronic Visa Waiver Issued?

UK e-visa exemptions are granted for various purposes.
For example, you can apply for a UK e-visa exemption if you want to enter the UK for tourism, business, study or medical treatment.
However, you cannot undertake paid work or permanent residence in the UK with EVW.
You must apply for the relevant visa to work or live in the UK.

Do I Need to Obtain a Separate UK Electronic Visa Waiver for People Accompanying Me?

Yes, each applicant must submit a separate EVW application (including children).

Can I Work in the UK With an Electronic Visa Waiver?

No you can not.
EVW holders cannot work, marry and/or enter into a civil partnership in the UK.

What If Some Information Is Incorrect on My UK EVW?

You can update your registration information here.
All you need to do is enter your e-visa exemption number (this can be found on your current e-visa exemption document).
Next, enter your date of birth.
You must write down what is written on your passport.
Any incorrect or incomplete information in your application form risks your visa application being refused.

What if My Travel Plans Change?

If your travel plans change, you can edit the information. All you need is your EVW and date of birth to change your details. You must change your trip details if any of the following apply:
 
  • You have decided to travel at a different time.
  • You will be leaving from or arriving at a different airport, port, or train station that you have previously planned.
  • You will arrive in the UK more than 8 hours later than you have planned.

Important Information

  • only four countries (Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and United Arab Emirates) are eligible to apply for an eVisa under the e-visa waiver policy.
  • Your travel information (departure date, arrival date, address of where you will be staying in the UK) must match and be accurate on your online visa application form
  • If you have an electronic visa, you can stay in the UK for up to six months
  • If you are not eligible for EVW and are not a citizen of a visa-free country, you will need to apply for a standard tourist visa.
     
  • UK online visa processing time is only 72 hours (3 working days) and approved documents will be sent to the applicant's email box
  • All travelers visiting the UK are required to have a Passenger Locator Form (although you can enter the UK without a visa) due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Minor travelers do not need to complete a Passenger Locator Form (but must be completed as an adult traveling with them)
  • The passenger locator form is not a substitute for an eVisa
  • All applicants must have a valid passport that will not expire within 6 months of the intended date of entry into the UK.

FAQ for the UK eVisa

A UK eVisa is an Electronic Visa Waiver that serves as a single-entry travel authorization and allows a 6-month stay in the UK. The process can be completed entirely online, and the approved document is sent directly to the applicant’s email box. The online visa for the UK is available only to citizens from KuwaitOmanQatar, and the UAE.

If you come from a country that cannot visit UK visa-free, you need to apply for either theElectronic Visa Waiver or theStandard Visitor Visa. The second one requires the applicants to attend a visit at the Visa Application Center in their home country, and the waiting time may take up to 3 weeks. Luckily, the eVisa obtained under the EVW can be applied for from home!

Yes, every traveler needs an eVisa to cross the UK border. Parents or guardians should apply for underage travelers visiting the UK with them.

If your country is eligible for an eVisa you need to apply for one before entering the UK. Please remember that even if you may cross the UK border without any travel authorization, you still need to fill the Passenger Locator Form (due to Covid-19).

All UK eVisa applicants need to have avalid passport that will not expire for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date. Please also prepare information regarding your trip (dates of arrival, departure, and addresses you plan on staying at).

Once you have prepared the necessary documents for the UK eVisa application process, start by filling an online form with your data, passport details, email address, and make sure to check if every piece of information provided in the form is correct. Then, make an online payment and wait for your approved electronic visa to arrive at your email address.

The UK eVisa application processing time takes up to 72 hours (3 business days) for the Electronic Visa Waiver available to Kuwait, OmanQatar, and the UAE citizens.

The online UK visa will arrive at the applicant’s email address provided in the form while applying online. The UK Visa Waiver application process can be completed entirely online as opposed to the Standard Visitor Visa.

Once you’ve completed the online visa application process and the approved eVisa has been delivered to your email box, print it out and take it with you on your travel. All UK visitors need to show printed electronic visasvalid passports, and the Passenger Locator Forms to the customs officials upon arrival.

The electronic visa waiver to the UK costs £30. This fee is non-refundable. You will not be refunded even if you end up not getting the EVW.

You can make this payment by using a debit or credit card.

The electronic visa waiver is processed within 24 hours.

It is highly recommended that you apply for the UK electronic visa waiver between three months and 48 hours before you intend to travel to the UK.

If you hold a UK eVisa you may stay in the United Kingdom for up to 6 months. Please note that the electronic UK visa allows only one entry during the validity period.

The Electronic Visa Waiver stays valid for 180 days (six months) and allows single entry to the UK. Complete the UK eVisa application from home and receive your permit via email to travel to the United Kingdom for as long as six months.

The electronic UK visa cannot be extended. As it serves as a single-entry permit, you must apply for a new EVW every time you enter the UK. Applying online takes just a few minutes, and an eVisa to UK arrives straight at your email address.

There is no possibility of obtaining an online UK visa upon arrival. Travelers eligible for the UK eVisa may apply online between 3 months to 48 hours before their trip to the UK. When you are already an electronic UK visa holder, you may stay in the country for up to six months.
