Myanmar eVisa is an electronic visa launched on September 1, 2014 to allow all eligible travelers to enter Myanmar for tourism and business purposes.

Depending on the purpose of the visit, there are two types of Myanmar e-Visa: tourist visa and business visa.

The Myanmar e-visa is a 90-day single-entry visa that allows you to stay in the country for 28 to 70 days depending on the type chosen. Travelers whose countries are listed as eligible can apply for a Myanmar visa online and receive documents approved within 72 hours!

Both types of online visas to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar are valid for 3 months (90 days) from the date of approval. However, the permitted length of stay varies between different eVisa types.

The electronic tourist visa allows the visa holder to stay in Myanmar for 28 days. In contrast, online business visas allow travelers to travel for up to 70 days within the validity period.

Please note! Myanmar eVisa serves as a single entry permit. You can only enter the country once and apply for a new entry permit each time you want to return.

All travelers who need to transit through the Southeast Asian country to reach their final destination must apply for a Myanmar eVisa.

Each traveler must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of travel.

Stay in Myanmar for 28 or 70 days within the three-month (90-day) validity period.

When applying for a Myanmar visa, you must upload scanned copies of the following documents:

  • Your passport is valid for at least six months before departure from Myanmar
  • One passport-sized photo, with the following Myanmar specifications:
  1. Size:4.6 cm x 3.8 cm (1.8 inches x 1.5 inches)
  2. Taken within the past three months
  3. Has a plain white background
  4. You have a neutral facial expression and face forward
  5. Your entire face is visible
  6. You are not wearing a helmet or glasses
  • For Myanmar e-business visa:
  1. Business invitation letter to Myanmar.
  2. Business registration certificate of the inviting company.
  • If the inviting company is local:
  1. Their certificate of incorporation
  2. If the inviting company is a foreign invested company.
  3. Their branch registration certificate

Required documents for e-Visa

Luckily, the online requirements for a Myanmar visa are very basic.

All each candidate must have is:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months after intended date of arrival in Myanmar
  • Photo of candidate's face (taken with phone or PC camera)

Travelers applying for a Business e-Visa may need to attach an invitation letter from a Myanmar company to their application.

Can Myanmar E-Visa be Extended?

No, you cannot extend your Myanmar e-Visa to stay in the country for more than 28 days as this visa is issued for tourist purposes only. However, if you apply to the office of the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population of Myanmar, you may be allowed to apply for business e-visa extension.
