Mongolia has started issuing electronic visas to foreigners who want to visit the country for tourism or cultural purposes.
Mongolia e-visa is issued for tourism and cultural events. This electronic document allows eligible passport holders to visit Mongolia for a certain period of time without having to visit their home country's embassy or consulate. In fact, the application process is completely online.
The Mongolian government issues three (3) types of e-Visas:
Tourist – K2
Participant in cultural and sports competition – K4
Transit – K6
Important: It is against the law to perform activities other than the purpose stated on your e-Visa. Therefore, make sure you apply for the right kind of visa which you need.
All you need to prepare before starting the online visa application process is your valid passport and a digital face photo. The applicant’s face photograph can be taken using a phone or a PC camera, as our team adjusts the files appropriately.
With your passport prepared, start applying by choosing the purpose of your travel
Follow these simple-step e-Visa application process:
- Begin by clicking on the “Login” button, which can be found in the menu on the right side of the screen.
- If you haven’t registered yet, please register yourself first.
- After registering, proceed to log in to the panel.
- Once you are logged in, navigate to the menu on the left side of the panel.
- Select the “Visa Application Form” option from the menu.
- Fill out this form with the required information.
- Finally, submit the completed form.
Every applicant will receive a confirmation number once their payment has cleared. You can use it to check the status of your electronic Mongolia visa while it’s processing.
The electronic travel authorization or ETA to Mongolia is valid for 30 days.
Once you have received your approved Mongolia e-Visa, print it and take it with you on your trip. Customs officers will check that each traveler has a valid passport and pre-printed e-visa upon arrival.

Required documents for e-Visa
Make sure you bring the following documents with you when you decide to apply for the Mongolia e-Visa:
- Passport. It must be valid for at least 180 days when applying. One photograph. It must be recent, high quality, and visa-style, where your entire face is visible.
- Flight details to Mongolia. You must show a booked flight ticket, showing your entry and exit dates.
- Proof of financial means. You must be able to prove that you have sufficient funds to cover your trip.
- Proof of accommodation when in Mongolia.

Can the Mongolia e-Visa Be Extended?
Temporary visitors may request to extend their stay in Mongolia at least five (5) business days before their visa expires. You can also request a 90-day extension after your previous extension expires. To apply for an extension in Mongolia, you must submit the following documents:
- An official letter describing the reason for requesting an extension
- One photograph
- Application form
- Passport
- Receipt of payment.
If you are submitting an application for an extension online, submit the following documents:
- An official letter describing the reason for requesting an extension
- Photo or copy of your passport’s biodata page
- Mongolian visa
- Entry stamp
- Receipt of payment.
Important Information
- Each visitor must have a printed copy of the Mongolia e-visa upon arrival
- The applicant's passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of travel

First of all, collect the necessary documents, i.e. a valid passport and a photo of the applicant’s face, and start the registration process by choosing the purpose of your trip. Provide your data in the application form, pay online and wait for the e-Visa to be approved to your email address.
Your ETA (electronic travel authorization) will be sent to your email address.
Print your electronic travel permit or save it to your smartphone. You must present it at the immigration checkpoint, along with your passport.
Immigration officers will review your visa application and determine whether you meet all the requirements within three business days or 72 hours.
