Malawi e-Visa Application

Malawi e-Visa: Basic information

The Malawi e-visa is an electronic visa that allows the visa holder to travel to Malawi for tourism, business, transit and even medical purposes.

The country's government introduced an e-visa system in 2019 to facilitate visa processing by switching to online applications.

There are four different types of Malawi e-visas to distinguish. Three of them are used for tourism, business and medical purposes and come in the form of single or multiple entry visas, while the fourth serves as an electronic transit visa.

The maximum stay with a Malawi e-Visa varies depending on the type chosen and can be 7 or 30 days and 6 or 12 months. The validity period of the online Malawi visa is 90 days (three months), regardless of the type chosen.

Applicants can use their phone, laptop, PC or tablet and visit our website to complete the visa application process online within minutes from home.

The online Malawi visa will then be sent directly to the applicant's email inbox in PDF format within 5 working days without the need to visit the embassy or consulate.

Applicants can choose one of four online Malawi visa types available on our website. Each eligible traveler can choose between:

  1. Single entry permit for a 30-day stay
  2. Multiple entry permit for a stay of up to 6 months
  3. Multiple entry permit for a visit lasting up to 12 months

The Malawi e-visas listed above can be used for tourism, business and medical treatment purposes.

  • The electronic transit visa serves as a single entry permit for a 7-day stay in Malawi

The online transit visa is for traveling through Malawi en route to your final destination.

All you need to prepare before starting the online visa application process is your valid passport and a digital face photo. The applicant’s face photograph can be taken using a phone or a PC camera, as our team adjusts the files appropriately.

With your passport prepared, start applying by choosing the purpose of your travel

Please note! Each traveler must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of travel. Check that your passport is of suitable validity before applying.

If you need to transit through the Republic of Malawi to reach your final destination, apply online for a Transit e-Visa.

The electronic transit visa allows a 7-day stay in Malawi for transit purposes only. Plus, it’s valid for three months from approval, giving you plenty of time to complete your trip!

Once you have received your approved Malawi e-Visa, print it and take it with you on your trip. Customs officers will check that each traveler has a valid passport and pre-printed e-visa upon arrival.
