All foreign nationals (except citizens of visa-exempt countries) must apply for a visa to enter the People's Republic of Bangladesh. There are different types of visas for Bangladesh depending on the purpose of the trip and length of stay.

Eligible citizens can apply for an e-visa with the simplest application process, while other citizens need to go to the Bangladesh embassy to apply for a regular visa.

All candidates must have a valid passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival. E-Visa Express

eVisa

The Government of Bangladesh has launched eVisa Bangladesh to facilitate the application process. Now, eligible foreign nationals no longer need to visit the Bangladesh Embassy in person as the process is completely online and can be done from any location.

The Bangladesh e-visa is for tourism purposes and is available for single entry, double entry and multiple entries. It allows you to stay in the country for one month (30 days) and is valid for 3 months.

To fill out the online application form, applicants simply need to upload a valid passport and a digital photo of their face that can be taken using a phone or PC camera.

Tourist visa

Tourist visas are issued to foreigners who wish to visit Bangladesh for sightseeing, attending seminars/symposia, visiting relatives and friends or for religious purposes.

This type of visa allows its holder to enter Bangladesh once and stay there for a maximum of 3 months.

The visa application requires additional documents such as a travel itinerary and hotel reservation or an invitation letter from the host.

Business visa

Business visa is required for those coming to Bangladesh for business and transactional reasons. There are single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry business visas. Each of them is valid for one year and allows you to stay up to 90 days.

Applicants must attach a letter from the employer and an invitation letter from an accommodation company in Bangladesh.

Student visa

Study visas are issued to regular students and those who seek admission/want admission in an educational institution approved by the Government of Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh student visa allows its holder to enter the country multiple times within a validity period of one year. Length of stay depends on the study program.

To register, you must have a letter from the educational institution and a bank solvency certificate.

Employment visa

People working in domestic or foreign companies and organizations in Bangladesh can be granted work visas. The application must include a letter from the employer from Bangladesh and a letter of reference from BEPZA/BOI.

Bangladesh work visa can be entered once, twice or multiple times. It is issued for 3 months with the same length of stay. The visa can be extended for another 3 years at the Bangladesh Passport and Immigration Department.

Diplomatic/Official visa

Diplomatic/official visas are issued to ambassadors, diplomats, consular officers and other embassy officials and their dependent family members intending to visit Bangladesh for professional purposes. or public service.

A verbal note or official letter must be attached to the visa application.

Investor visa

Investor visa is used by people who want to come to Bangladesh for the purpose of investing or running a business/commercial entity.

It can allow one, two or more entries and is valid for up to one year with the possibility of extension up to 5 years.

Investor visa applicants must receive a letter of reference from BOI/BEPZA confirming that they are a bona fide investor.

Journalist visa

Journalist visas are issued to foreign journalists who want to visit Bangladesh to collect news and information or carry out official duties. This can be single/double/multiple entries and is valid for up to one month.

The visa application must include a letter of support from the organization describing the purpose of the visit.

NGO visa

NGO visas are issued to appointees in NGOs registered in Bangladesh. This visa is issued for 3 months for one, two or more visits with a maximum duration of 3 months.

For this type of visa, an authorization letter from the Department of NGO Affairs in Bangladesh is required.
